OMG

Have just dropped our weekend guests off at the airport and now we need some peace and quiet! Lovely couple but OMG she is so LOUD!! Very American, oblivious to nice peaceful Scottish country places and top volume exclaimations of how cute everything is and descriptions of intimate medical procedures for all to hear. No.1 husband wound up like a spring and spitting like like a cat! He has just appologised for taking it out on me after keeping his lip buttoned all w/e. Thank goodness it was only one night.
I find myself suprisingly able to put up with it maybe I have mellowed in my old age - yeah right. LOL

No.1 Husband Saves The Day!!

It looks like our water problems are over. JR went up to the well and poked around with a stick which dislodged large amount of vegetation that had grown onto the inlet pipe - Hey Presto - gushing water. Now all we have to do is wait for the sediment to settle and we can wash again! So mother in law can have a flushing loo next week and all is right with the world.
Now I can actually appreciate this lovely weather without worrying how I will water my veggies, I can stop using the facilities of every one I visit just to save a bucket of water to fill our cistern.
We learned a lesson though, never take your well for granted. Major overhaul is on the agenda when the water maanie comes.

Water Water Everywhere....

Day 3 of water rationing. I suppose I should go down the road for a shower! I am finding it hard to believe it is so difficult to get hold of a water supply in this day and age. I keep thinking that if we were elderly (no jokes please) we would be struggling to do all this chasing around for supplies and meeting dead ends. Who cares? Not the council, not Scottish Water that's for sure.
Anyway enough moaning - the latest is that we can source some water to top up the well but we have to get the Water Diviner to check that it is not a 'water table' well. If it was then any water poured in will just dissipate into the general underground aquifer.
We cannot find a Bowser service that will connect up to mains anywhere locally so for the moment we are just using rainwater from the barrels for flushing, the same, boiled for washing up and bottled water for all else. Waiting to see if local borehole company has spare IBC tank to enable us to store large amount of water (courtesy of The Squirrels we hope).
My biggest concern is that we wont have a proper solution by the time Harry's Mam comes to visit next week.
